Project $1,000.00 (Position Taken -- More to Come)

Tue Dec 9, 2008, 2:22 PM
I am building a company around a private game that is played locally; I need some work done for both the game’s manual and to be used on the website. Artwork is to be displayed in the game manual and on the website; however, all finished work will be property of the company to use as it sees fit. The artwork will be based on existing figures; hence, we will not pay licensing fees. Rough concept sketches will be provided, to work off of.

I am a professional seeking a professional; just as you expect payment on time, I expect results on time, as well as frequent updates on progress. The current project deadline is February 20, 2009; if the artist approaches me, clearly stating that he or she needs more time, I will be willing to work around the deadline. Besides, rushed people get sloppy.

I require that the artist signs a non-disclosure agreement which must be notarized; the original document must be sent back to me before work begins.

Current budget is $1,000.00 USD to be paid in lump sum upon completion of project; method of payment negotiable.

I require the following:

-Detailed character templates. Each of the six templates is a tiered attire/equipment template of the character type; this will be simple as each tier just adds equipment from the same initial figure. Each of the six templates features 4 tiers.

-Background work for each template; very little detail for the most part. (Examples can be seen below)

-15 to 20 Small Icons to be used on the website’s blog; concepts already drawn. (One will be 50x75; the rest will be 25x38 – the icons will be very simple)

The total is (at most) 32 pieces; 6 character templates on a white background, 6 character templates on the background pieces (I would like the simple backgrounds separate as well for later company use), and 20 small icons.

Perfect examples of the templates I need can be found in the wikipedia article below:

One deviant piece, which features a closer example of how the tiers will develop, can be found in the link below:

The characters will feature a blend of features from Dark Ages Europe and Feudal Japan. I am not specific to any art style and have an open mind; I do favor realistic proportions.

Please state your interests via reply to this post or feel free to email me at WilkeningT@yahoo.com; please include a link to portfolio if by email. I will be reviewing portfolios until December 18, 2008, at which time I will contact the chosen candidate.

** The position is no longer available as of December 19, 2008.

hi there,
sounds like a nice little project your working on.

i'd be interested, i enjoy drawing the type artwork i think your looking for.

as for style, my style is heavily influenced by capcom works, mostly street fighter but i can change it up to suit.

the only problem for me is the deadline.
got a lot of stuff going on this time of year, also i'm going to china mid january till mid feb.

anyways if you can work around that, i'm very interested.

Sounds good, I'm laid back with time constraints; I just get annoyed when people don't hold themselves accountable to what they say, not meeting deadlines after deadlines have already been discussed and agreed on.

There elements in your style that I do like. Essentially, I will be asking for several works similar to your "Ronin Design Sketch;" however, the level of detail I'm looking for is displayed in your "Sephiroth," "Samurai Kenji," and "Chun Li."

How versed are you in Feudal Japanese and Dark Ages culture? The works I need shift between the two...

You are currently one of three interested artists that I have my eyes on. I will be watching your profile.

Please check out my gallery. I do a large variety of subject matter. I haven't done a great deal of Feudal work, but I believe in research and I would be willing to do a test sketch. Thanks for your attention!

yeah i'm really into japanese culture, actually i've been to japan twice.
anyways i love drawing samurai and have a lot of books on armor n stuff like that.
i'm sure its gonna turn out really well with who ever you go with.
